IMP was established in 1961 & pioneered in manufacturing of Electrical Manufacturing Instruments and Testing Equipments, introducing many 'firsts' in India viz. Maximum Demand Indicators, Tri vector Meters, Meter Test Benches from our plant at Kandivali (W), Mumbai.

With the start of the Rural Electrification work program by Govt. of India in 1970, IMP began manufacturing Distribution Transformers and has supplied more than 10000 no's. We than stepped up to manufacture 33KV class Power Transformers for different Utilities.

Having achieved excellence in Measuring Instruments, in 1974 we stepped up to be a 'major' player in developing 25KV/10KVA Auxiliary Transformers for Indian Railways duly approved by RDSO.

In 1984, we stepped up to manufacture 66KV Voltage Class 10 MVA Power Transformers for Govt. of Nagaland, catering to the far N.E. from West.

In 1985, IMP was the first Transformer Company in India to conduct Short Circuit Test on 33/11KV 5MVA Transformer successfully in CPRI, Bhopal, and stepped up the value chain.

In 1988 we stepped up to 11 / 132KV Voltage Class 16MVA Power Transformer, duly type tested for TNEB and other Utilities.

In 1989, we started exporting our Dist. & Power Transformers to developed countries viz. UK, Australia, New Zealand etc.

In 1995, IMP won the National Export Award & President's Certificate. During the same, also won the EEPC Award.

In 1997 we enhanced capacity to 3600 MVA p.a. by creating another manufacturing base at Silvassa, a green filed venture.

After consolidating our position successfully in 132KV Class for a decade, in 2001 we further stepped up to 220KV and manufactured, type tested and commissioned our 1st 100MVA Power Transformer for MSEB.

In 2005, IMP took the lead in joining hands with Power Grid & NHPC to serve Govt. of India's RGGVY & APDRP initiative through leading EPC Contractors and supplies were made in record time. Our 132KV/40 MVA Power Transformer was type tested at STLA, Rugby, UK which opened new vistas for IMP in Exports.

With a growing market and larger acceptance of our Power Transformers by State & Central Utilities, in 2009 we completed our modernization and stepped up our manufacturing capacity from a modest 3600MVA per annum to 10000 MVA per annum and even commissioned our own Impulse Station with capacity to test up to 400KV class Transformers.

In 2009 with completion of our modernization & expansion, IMP manufactured 71 MVA, 330KV Class Power Transformer for Zambian Utility.

IMP stood amongst the top 500 emerging companies in India with more than 10000 contenders in December 2009.

Successfully manufactured, & dispatched 63/31.5/31.5 MVA, 220/6.9/6.9 KV Station Transformer to one of the Biggest Steel Industry in the country

Successfully manufactured,Type Tested & dispatched its first 315 MVA, 400 kV Power Transformer to customer M.S.E.T.C.L.

In 2013 our In-house testing facility is accredited by NABL I.e. National Accredited Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories which is an autonomous body under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India." “This is the highest accreditation for testing in the country.”
